Tension brakes are often used for the winding and unwinding of rolls in converting machinery. Common industries include textiles, printing, paper, corrugated, plastic film, and metal stamping.
The tension control concept refers to the process of controlling tension while transporting web. It involves the winding and unwinding of rolls/sheets of any size and material. The purpose of the brake is to keep accurate and stable tension throughout the converting process to ensure the highest product quality and productivity. Optimising a web tension control system will ensure that the correct tension is maintained for any size and type of material, regardless of speed or process conditions.
Industrial Clutch Parts (ICP) supplies various tension brakes to the converting industry. Widely used on unwinders in a great variety of industries. ICP offers several types of tension brakes to enhance web tension control systems:
- Pneumatic brakes
- Caliper brakes (manual & pneumatic)
- Powder brakes
As well as complete brake units, ICP also supplies a wide range of high-quality to price ratio spare parts. 100% interchangeable with leading brands on the market, including Re Spa, Montalvo, and Wichita.

As we have entered a new year, with familiar problems and some new ones, it’s all the more important to share positivity and good news, to counter all of the doom and gloom the general media has to share.
UK Manufacturing has many success stories to share and investment in a broad range of industries is looking encouraging for the year ahead.
A couple of companies we have featured below:
Aerospace manufacturers target growth by digital transformation.
Three aerospace manufacturers in the UK are targeting growth through a new streamlined workshop process that speeds up digital transformation. MSM aerospace fabricators, based in Middleton, Xavier Engineering, based in Burnley, and G. Parker Aero Tooling Solutions, based in Accrington, are working with Made Smarter, the movement helping SME manufacturers adopt digital technologies.
They are using a digital transformation workshop, a process designed to accelerate manufacturing growth by identifying digital tools and technologies that can maximise operational processes and enhance business growth.
German farm machinery manufacturer CLAAS opens a new £20m HQ in Suffolk.
German agricultural machinery manufacturer CLAAS has underlined its commitment to the UK market with the unveiling of its new £20 million headquarters in Suffolk.
Following three years of construction work, during which time the headquarters site for CLAAS UK and dealer MANNS has been completely redeveloped, the new facility was officially opened on October 16 by Cathrina Claas-Mühlhäuser, chairwoman of the Harsewinkel-based firm’s supervisory board.
Work on the redevelopment of the site, at the centre of which is an impressive new 33,000m2 state-of-the-art headquarters building, commenced in November 2017. Construction work has been carried out in phases to enable day-to-day work for the 130 people employed on the site to continue with the least possibl

Over the last 18 years, Industrial Clutch Parts (ICP) and WPT Power have built an international reputation for excellence in the power transmission industry. ICP continues to work in partnership with WPT Power to provide new and improved industry solutions.
WPT Power Corporation manufactures pneumatic and hydraulic clutches that are preferred by many OEM’s around the world. There are some excellent clutch designs on the market already, and innovation is happening every day to help optimise the performance of heavy-duty applications, such as wood chippers and anchor winches.
Industrial clutches operate by bringing together two separate rotating bodies and coupling them to create a single body of rotation. WPT industrial clutches are air applied (pneumatic) or liquid applied (hydraulic), designed to generate much greater levels of force than other types of clutches.
In a pneumatic clutch, compressed air or gas provides the necessary pressure to inflate air tubes compressing friction and drive plates together. Hydraulic clutches use non-compressible liquids to apply pressure to pistons and thereby force friction and drive plates together. ICP also supplies a comprehensive range of spare parts suitable for all WPT industrial clutches.

Industrial Clutch Parts (ICP) continues to provide new and improved industrial solutions. ICP has recently received positive feedback from our customers at OZKA Lastik.
Founded in Turkey, OZKA Lastik is a manufacturer of industrial and agricultural tyres. OZKA produces tyres in Garden-Field, Pick-Up-Van, Trailer, Tractor Front-Rear, Construction Machine, Combine Harvester, Forklift, Panzer and Radial Tractor Tyre groups.
Earlier this year, ICP supplied OZKA with an Eaton Airflex 4CB200 unit. Eaton Airflex 4CB200 is a constricting clutch and/or brake. Designed for high speed, cyclic operations, as well as for coupling and general power transmission - ideal for OZKA tyre production machines.
It is a drum style unit, designed to expand radially inward when pressurized. The main feature is the torsional resilient principle made possible by the transmission of power through the sidewalls of the flexible neoprene and cord actuating tube. This flexibility also permits minor shaft misalignment.
As a trusted Eaton Airflex distributor, ICP is able to supply a comprehensive range of Eaton Airflex products. Including drum, water-cooled, and air-cooled clutches and brakes. ICP stocks genuine Airflex parts and complete units in order to deliver quickly for customer requirements.

Industrial Clutch Parts (ICP) supplies a multitude of clutches and brakes to the metal packaging industry. Perhaps now more than ever, ICP is working harder to meet the rising demand for clutch brakes and associated parts from beverage and food can-making plants due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
‘’Canmakers are racing to meet rising demand for their products, even though economies have been dented by the need to control Covid-19.’’
The Canmaker, Vol 33: November 4, 2020 P.35
One of the biggest impacts of the virus is the closure of out-of-home dining and events. With restaurants, bars and pubs closed, the need for canned food and drinks has increased. Canmakers need to meet the rising demands for their products by an increase in production lines and capital equipment. The rise in production means an increase in speeds and duty cycles. ICP supplies essential machine components to ensure Canmakers can boost capacity safely and effectively.
Goizper clutch-brakes offer a high number of strokes per minute as well as accurate start/stop operations for body makers. The Goizper system allows older machines to operate at higher speeds and can be adapted to work with almost any older type body maker. The quick exhaust design makes emergency stops faster and helps to prevent tool damage during can tear-off and other production line failures. Download the brochure here.

Industrial Clutch Parts (ICP), a leading manufacturer and supplier of industrial brakes, clutches and friction materials, continues to provide new and improved industrial solutions.
Over the last 25 years, ICP has supplied various clutches and brakes to the Theatre and Amusement industry. ICP recently received positive feedback from its customers at Green Stage Machinery Ltd, who are currently in the process of redesigning a theatrical line of fire curtain hoists.
A fire curtain hoist raises and lowers a safety curtain that separates a theatrical stage from the auditorium. In the event of a fire, the safety curtain will lower automatically to form a safety barrier between the stage and auditorium. By regulation, the fire safety curtain has to lower within 30 seconds. It is common practice to control the descent of the fire curtain by hydraulics.
A common problem with hydraulic brake systems is the difficulty to set up and regulate the closing speed of the descending fire curtains. As such, Green Stage Machinery decided to control the fire curtain descent speed by purely mechanical means instead of a hydraulic system.
Working closely with Green Stage Machinery, it was agreed the Coremo MPA-M Mechanical Disc Brake
